Sniff Test for Bishops

'Cause sheep would know what a shepherd ought to smell like, right?
Whenever marginally schismatic organizations or news outlets, or incoherent bloggers begin ranting about how much better it will be when bishops are selected locally, I think of how we can already see how wonderfully that would work out.
Because, China.

I know, right?

(My snarky hostility toward this idea actually has very little to do with theology or religion, etc. - rather, it springs from waaaaaaaay too much first-hand experience of the idiotic notion that everyones opinion is valuable in practice.)
