Rule of Thumb

In a vintage blog post, on the oft voiced declaration that a good rule of thumb for choosing liturgical music is that, if it would seem inappropriate if played at the foot of the Cross, it is inappropriate at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, comes this bit of brilliance:
