Maine Restaurateur, Second Amendment Rights, and the Sin of Sodom?

And if news blog?.... curmudgeon reports are to be believed, the head of the Italian bishops' conference is so ignorant of scripture, even by our Catholic standards, that he didn't realize that, gee, hate to break it to His Excellency, after all that... uhm, God does send down fire and brimstone and Will Ferrel movies and destroys the evil cities.
Is that a real school of thought, that Abraham schooled the Father in mercy the way at least some Jesuits think the Canaanite woman schooled the Son?

At any rate, anyone who discussed the little S & G incident found his combox inundated with Right-minded Persons making sure that everyone "knew" what they themselves professed to "know", (learn a new concept, "virtue signalling",) by hastening to announce, just a wee bit off topic, that oh and by the way, the Sin of Sodom was not what you prudes think is an attempt to force nasty sex on the disguised angelic individuals, but LACK  OF  HOSPITALITY.
Contrast that with the fact that  just a little before that in the cycle of readings, we learned that due to his hospitality Abraham was given a son, (and a nation, and all that.)

This was not really germane to the discussion at hand, the point of which was, nope, Bish, Sodom was NOT saved, and isn't necessarily true, but let's say for the mo it is --

I was just tickled at the NYTimes running a piece, (can't find it to link, because without subscription it would use up by limited access for the month, but this is another media outlet berating the Times for it,) about a liberal provider of public accommodation, who in her anti-gun zeal, (which I, full disclosure, share with her,) will not serve 2nd amendment supporters or certain types of gun owners in her diner.
I could be wrong, but food seems to me a more basic right than, oh, I dunno, wedding flowers? but the Times twisted itself into knots not to condemn the woman.

But isn't that, we don't serve your kind in here! the very definition of being inhospitable?

So the Down East restaurateur was guilty of the sin of Sodom, right?
At least, in the thinking of the New Church we've Sung Into Being, low these past few decades...

Are They Really Being Denied "Rights" or Are They Snatching At Privilege?

Per the headline, girls are being "denied right to honor...heritage."
Not sure of any of this, but it seems as if someone is trying to paint sort of averagely transgressive teenagers as "victims."
Are the little darlings actually being made to "alter their attire" and "their whole selves" when they choose one month to wear ethic/heritage headgear?
For that to be true, wouldn't geles need to be an item which they wore all the time, not just for Black Pride Month?
The principal is herself Black, so I suspect she has a better handle on this than Professional Grievance Hunters.
Of course, one then wonders if other national or ethnic headdresses or other clothing that violates the dress code is acceptable at certain times, (if so, than this should certainly be added to the exceptions.)
Many school of which I know, for instance, have a navy/dark green/white/khaki pallate but allow red and green on the days before Christmass vacation, or gaudy Kelly green on St Paddy's.
Is there a day when all the kids with Scandinavian ancestors show up like this?

Now, I'm not sure if the claim that a man can turn into a woman can be, or when it has been tested and improved, but it must have been.
But this confuses me, since the counter claim would inherently be tested by the testing of the claim, so if...

But academics tell us what to think, it is pop figures who tell us what to feel.

So Sex is an Artificial Construct But Race Is Not?

Or at least, if not artificial, fluid, and ultimately dependant on the preference of the individual?

I thought the world at large had decided we all had to affirm whatever descriptors anyone applied to... oh, I hate for the numbers not to agree, but... themself.
Isn't that how this guy person was allowed to beat the living daylights out of women in MMA?

(I should be upfront about that fact that I find women's MMA disgusting anyway. Actually, I find MMA disgusting, period.)
If Caitlynn Jenner dresses as a woman and the politically correct world is required to honor this choice, (in fact, a bot may chase down those on the internet who use the wrong pronoun for Jenner,) is there any particular reason Ms. Dolezal can't self-identify as black?

Traditionally, one might choose a reductio ad absurdum argument in debate with those whose viewpoints were at odds with ones own, but it seems to me some people on one side of this particular question are supplying one ready made to the opposition.

"Hate Speech"

I'm curious, at what point does criticism cross the line into hate speech?

Does it have more to do with whose ox is being gored than with the words supposedly doing the goring?

I'm not seeing the "attacks, threat[s], or insults" that the petition says qualifies as "hate speech," (though they might be there, I certainly haven't heard or read every word that the teacher in question has written or pronounced - just haven't seen them in any of the "evidence.")

Perhaps the time has come to replace the bromide of "hate the sin but love the sinner," with the profession that Catholicism, (which actually calls us to articles of faith which we believe are the will of God, not just nice feelings,) hates the heresy without hating the heretic?

Update: Apparently, my guess that the ownership of said ox might be parmount was correct. "Nightmare dumpster human," for instance, is, I guess you'd say, "love speech."

"Purple Penguins"

I didn't give this much credence because the person who told me about it watches Fox, which I know has a tendency to get hold of the wrong end of the stick in regard to news of the culture wars, (not discriminating against Fox, other tv news channels do likewise in their bias toward the other direction.)

But came across it again, and so decided to check it out on Snopes, which I think has a pretty good track record. Someone feel free to tell me if that's wrong.

A Nebraska school district has instructed its teachers to stop referring to students by “gendered expressions” such as “boys and girls,” and use “gender inclusive” ones such as “purple penguins” instead. 
 “Don’t use phrases such as ‘boys and girls,’ ‘you guys,’ ‘ladies and gentlemen,’ and similarly gendered expressions to get kids’ attention,” instructs a training document given to middle-school teachers at the Lincoln Public Schools. 
 “Create classroom names and then ask all of the ‘purple penguins’ to meet on the rug,” it advises. The document also warns against asking students to “line up as boys or girls,” and suggests asking them to line up by whether they prefer “skateboards or bikes/milk or juice/dogs or cats/summer or winter/talking or listening.” “
Always ask yourself . . . ‘Will this configuration create a gendered space?’” 

(Gotta admit, I had no idea that spaces could be sexed  -- like toads?or at least gendered like French nouns.)
So, Snopes says some true, some false - but in their cited breakdown  of what is what, it seems, on the whole, true, and pretty dang ridiculous.
Okay, teachers weren't "ordered" not to use the terms "boys" or "girls" they were merely provided with materials as guidelines for educators to better understand gender identity issues and were not intended to impose rules mandating how those issues should be addressed.

Yeah, 'cause in elementary school especially, that's why you divide kids into boys and girls, just so that you can have two totally random lines.
It's not because they are, generally speaking, inherently different, it's all artificial constructs, (ask the mother of all boys, why don't you?)
So, every fifth grader who prefers juice, learn how to stand up at the urinals without making a mess, in that rest room, and you fifth graders who prefer milk, we have a little film for you to see, about how your bodies are changing.

In other news, a purple penguin engineer who worked for Twitter, after being charged with the rape and assault of the purple penguin's former spouse, to whom the purple penguin was married when the purple penguin presented as the sex of purple penguin that the purple penguin had the configuration of, that is, before deciding that the purple penguin wished to be addressed and treated as the other variety of purple penguin while still retaining the physical attributes of the first kind of purple penguin thus making it possible for the purple penguin to sexuall assault the purple penguin's ex-spouse in the way the purple penguin was accused of doing,was pled down, and escaped jail time.

Which kind of purple penguin would they ever have decided to incarcerate this purple penguin in the company of, one wonders.... whew, narrow escape from that conundrum, Civil Authorities!

Sadly, some lesbian purple penguins online take offense at this purple penguin's crimes being reported on as if they were the dastardly doings of a lesbian purple penguin because this purple penguin, though sometimes referring to the purplepenguin'sself as a lesbian  purple penguin, is in point of fact, a transgendered... transcolored?  purple penguin.
