Allow me to explain about the theatre business. The natural condition is one of insurmountable obstacles on the road to imminent disaster.

So what should we do?

Nothing. Strangely enough, all will end well!

I don't know, it's a mystery....

Even a non-theater person who was a mother of one of the budding thespians could tell what a disaster the run-through had been with the little darlings, a MOTHER, you understand, asked what in the world that was, what had happened, how had a piece of genuine entertainment appeared on that stage today?

Indeed, I don't know how all ends well, and it is something about the stage that continues, unfailingly, to amaze and delight me.
