How'd ya do on your SATs?

I'm way past the age of worrying about the answers to multiple choice questions like "x is to y, as z is to BLANK" but I'm starting to think that ineptitude at such analogies is the driving force behind the downfall of civilization.

Katherine Kersten, of the Minneapolis-St Paul Star Tribune has an interesting piece on the reaction to (newish) Archbishop Nienstedt's suppression of the (legendary) St Joan of Arc's "Gay Pride" prayer service.

People, most people, or at least too many people, think pride's opposite number is "shame".
No.
It is HUMILITY.

(As someone sorely lacking in this virtue, and sorely aware of the lack, and actively practicing to remedy the lack, believe me, I recognize it.)
(Although perhaps that very claim of such knowledge is evidence of the lacuna...)
