I am always curious when in a news report on a topic as subtle and nuanced as this one is bound to be, we are given some words within quotation marks and others, presumably paraphrased from the speaker's actual words, without. Or are they the writer's interpretation of what the speaker must have meant?
Benedict XVI chooses his words with infinite care -- did he really pray that there are no more schisms and fractures "within the Anglican community," as this AP story says?
I would prefer to see what his actual words, or at least a good translation of his actual words, were.
I can't even tell from anything I have so far read what language he was speaking, or whether he was answering a specific question -- anyone know where a more thorough transcript might be found?
