Still Making Merry and Feasting on Christmass Treats

In this second week after Epiphany, we finally had occasion to cut into the sole fruitcake I baked this year.
 

 "A triumph, my dear, a triumph!"
I used up nuts that were lying around, and the mix of slivered almonds, pecan pieces and pignoli worked very nicely indeed. Forgot to get dried apricots the day I set out to make it, but dates, raisins, and dried pineapple and blueberries proved an excellent combination.

All in all -- I would have enjoyed it even without it having been drenched for months in brandy!

(To all you haters out there -- I pity those that never tasted good fruitcake.;oP)
